How to Allow SSH connection in Plesk for a Domain

Note: This article is intended for Shared, VPS and Dedicated server clients. Shared server clients will need to contact support to allow SSH connections for their subscription.

       1. Login as Admin to the Control Panel.

       2. Click on Domains as given below. Select the Domain you wish to allow SSH connections. The SSH connection is applicable both for Domains and Sub-domains.

           This connection can be done either by clicking on Domains or on Subscriptions.

       3.  Click on Web-hosting Access as given in the picture.

       4.  You will get to see some options under System User as given in the picture below.

         i) Provide the Username

        ii) Enter the Password as per your wish else you can generate one and confirm it.

       iii) Set the appropriate user shell at Access to the server over SSH field to /bin/bash (chrooted). This will allow the system user access to connect via SSH.

          Values Forbidden, /sbin/nologin or /usr/sbin/nologin will restrict SSH access to a user, the rest of options will allow SSH access.

 

       5. Click the OK button to apply changes.
